Surreal scenery and scary special effects elevate this werewolf film to a higher level of quality than one might expect, given the low budget. Neil Jordan, who later directed Interview With A Vampire, helms the picture with confidence as its young heroine navigates a dreamlike world of dark forests and sinister creatures.
