An interesting movie, but its narrative structure is a tad hard to follow.

Previous to viewing, I was unaware that this film was based on an autobiographical piece. This is not presented in a typical biopic fashion. It starts as a comedy with some nice offbeat humor, then progresses into a weird espionage tale, and finally into a pseudo-psychological examination. I like the aspects that are much different from the norm, but not everything meshed well to me. Clooney's striking direction and Rocwell's entertaining performance are the glue that hold this film together. Interesting character study.

Great cast, particularly Sam Rockwell in a paranoid performance. I liked the way the film used editing and parallel storylines to create a "is he or isn't he" feel that never quite resolves itself in regards to Chuck's claims. The film is as interesting and weird as the real Chuck Barris was.
