The story about J. Edgar Hoover who was one of the most prominent faces of law enforcement for 50 years in the United States. This movie is directed by the great man himself (Clint Eastwood) and I thought this movie was going to be brilliant and I also thought this was going to be Leonardo DiCaprio best role yet, And I only got one thing right and that is Leonardo DiCaprio acting in this film but the rest is a bit of a let down. The make-up looks really fake and laughable in this movie and they are these flashbacks in the movie that comes out of nowhere and I at time didn't know it's a flashback. This could have been a great movie but the movie lacks on enjoyment and joy to it, and it just left me bored.

I was really looking forward to this movie because I had heard so many good reviews about it, but I was kind of dissepointed. It didn't have many highlights and I almost fell asleep when I was watching it.

A slightly above average movie. Eastwod shows some good style and the music is also above average. DiCaprio performs his best, The movie just isn't good. Too slow at times and a bit choppy. Leave these movies up to Scorsese or even Spielberg. I learned a lot though.

This probably could have been a lot better than it was, but unfortunately a disappointing script from Dustin Lance Black holds this film back. The film tries to be a biographical drama about J. Edgar Hoover, but there's too much back and forth between an older Hoover reflecting on his tenure as director of the FBI (including highlights from his career) and how Hoover lived out his last days. This means the film can't create any momentum or build to anything because just as each story gets interesting it flips back to the other one. Normally I'm pretty impressed with Eastwood's directing, but in this case I wasn't as the actors, especially DiCaprio, are a little too showy. I just couldn't identify with any of them.

This movie pretty much embodies the reason why I don't usually like biographical movies that aren't documentaries. Because, if the director or writer doesn't take a few liberties to make the story better, then the plot probably isn't going to be very good. However, if they do take a few liberties, then they're doing a disservice to the event or person in question. It's a total catch-22. But, this movie definitely has it's good points, which are named Leonardo DiCaprio, Judi Dench, Naomi Watts, and Clint Eastwood.
