Fascinating look at the earliest art known to man - what amazed me was the preservation - just like you expect to see a Paleolithic man creating a new picture around the next corner - that's how fresh they look. Herzog also does a good job of bridging the past with the present. Simply stunning.

An okay documentary, in which Wener Herzog descends into the Chauvet caves, which feature the oldest cave drawing known to man. We get to see a lot of Herzog's descent and LOTS of shots of the drawings themselves, which are pretty interesting. We also get a lot of how the drawings have maintained themselves over the thousands of years. My only complaint would be knowing more of the history - what's known of those who painted them, how they lived, etc. Instead there's too much time spent on the art and not enough time spent on the artists.
