A so-so script is propelled into a great film thanks to a career-best performance by George Clooney. The story seems a little soapy - man finds out wife, who's in a coma, was cheating on him, so he sets out to find out the man she was with. This is forgivable though, thanks to the great performance from Clooney, who sheds the charm and swagger he usually brings to his roles and delivers his most honest and believable portrayal yet.

The Descendants is a highly enjoyable movie which should appeal to male and females alike. The setting of the movie is in beautiful Hawaii which gives the whole film a relaxing, mellow vibe. The story is interestring and could definitely evoke some emotions from some. The movie is well paced, not leaving much room for boredom. The acting is generally very good, with special nods to Clooney (who will be in the running for some major awards) and his oldest daughter. I found the daughter's love interest/apparent boyfriend to be a bit silly and superfluous, but he certainly doesn't tarnish the movie as a whole. Overall, it is an interesting film which I expect to win many awards beyond what it has already gathered.

A great, moving movie that makes you think about life and how choices affect others in your life or your death. Definately worth seeing and perfect length of movie.
