In the year 2079 CIA agent Snow (Guy Pearce) was accused of murdering an undercover agent. The daughter of US President Emilie Warnock, (Maggie Grace) is trapped in space penitentiary MS One. Pierce shines but the rest of the characters falter since they are either too irritating or too cute with the anecdotes. The humor was definitely forced, action relentless but plot uninviting. There were several coy moments especially between Snow and Emilie. Amazing how the pair of protagonists fell straight down from the ship instead of floating. Lockout felt like a fantasy than a sci-fi thriller because of it's unbelievable sequences but is entertaining enough.

Fairly typical action film in a futuristic setting - lots of people die, off-the-wall characters, completely inane story - but if you're looking for a bit of fun, you could do worse.

Quite solid action sf movie - if you do not overthink it. Please don't. Same as Besson's another film, The Fifth Element, the story is intriguing, but if you try to dissect it, you will inevitably disappoint yourself. In the terms of entertainment, it succeeded - I was never bored, the visuals were OK, and the main characters were interesting and fun to watch. Especially Guy Pearce's witty, sarcastic Snow opposite well-mannered, but not so helpless, do-gooder, Maggie Grace's Emilie.
