Could've been better.

Rule of thumb: A bad Pixar film is always better than a bad film produced by any other studio. This just happens to be a average-at-best Pixar film. It's really a simple tale on the surface about a girl who doesn't want to be forced into a marriage. I found the story to be just a little thin. I know it's an animated film, therefore, it's aimed towards children, but Pixar is usually good for some adult moments, I didn't really see any here. That's all I'll say about the story, let's talk about the visual.

They're amazing! It's definitely one of the best looking films I've ever seen. It seems like the main talking point about this film is the red hair. And it should be, for animated hair, there has been nothing better. I think the film could have been better visually if the …

Good for family movie night!

This to me was like reviewing Brother Bear once again except this time it's the main charector's mother who turns into one, a bear that is. Aside from that this film did little and nothing for me but then again i'm not the target audience here, now the target audience (my kids) they both loved it so that's a good thing. Although being no fan myself of this family genre of films, only a few seem to capture my interest, I still look for great storytelling and found the storyline in this flick completly dull although i do have to say anything Scottish always keeps me somewhat entertained. I will say if you have a family and are looking for a movie night movie to watch then select this one however if you are a dad much like myself, who watches these films strictly for the kids only hoping …

Fairylore Pixar Style!

BRAVE centers around Princess Merida, a Scottish princess who is wrestling against her impending fate to be married to one of her dad's allied clans as hard as she is struggling to win the approval of her mother Elinor. Merida’s tomboy ways displease the Queen who would very much like her daughter to be a more ladylike Princess and this has caused conflict between the two for many years.

One day, after a particularly nasty fight with her mother, Merida stumbles upon a witches hut in the woods. Together they strike a deal to make a spell for Merida to change her mother and, ultimately, her fate, and well, things get a wee bit complicated as Merida accidentally brings a beastly curse upon her family that puts her love for her mother to the ultimate test.

It’s funny, charming and …

Brave review

Queen Elinor expresses her discontent of her daughters actions during the games. Merida stumbles into the woods and encounters an old witch who gives her a cake with a spell. Things go wrong when Merida's mother transforms into a bear. Story was flighty and lead figure was not as interesting. Highlights though we're the humor, action, animation and score. Voice acting was decent as well. Not as solid as Pixar classics since only kids would enjoy this journey, not the overall experience. It's depressing how old fairy tales are being made darker by Disney. This was surprisingly light, though not as entertaining. The bears were adorable and one can see the emotions as well. Brave still delivers nevertheless with topics on family, listening and change.

Review: Brave

Quick Review --- Brave is Pixar's latest offering after 2011's Cars 2, which I didn't see but received mostly negative reviews from critics and mixed reactions from moviegoers. Based on the Pixar films I have seen (all of them besides Cars 2), Brave is not one of their best. However, Brave is certainly Pixar's best-looking film, with a great message and an enormously entertaining first half-hour. The film has terrific visual imagery, some wit and funny lines (a lot of them delivered by Merida's father, King Fergus), exciting sequences of adventure and action, and fantastic vocal performances, the standout being Kelly Macdonald, bringing a likable charm to the film's main character, Merida. After the first, and very good, half-hour, the film takes some tonal shifts which seemed too …

You Gotta Have Fate

Pixar is one of the few studios I have been able to count on to deliver consistent and quality entertainment. Yes, I was also a bit letdown by Cars 2 (as I found the original Cars to be less than stellar already) but as soon as I heard about Brave, I was once again excited.

The tale of a feisty princess with a main of unruly red curls who would much rather spend the day riding, shooting her bow and climbing mountains than learning about decorum, history and, well, being a princess. Her mother is often exasperated by her daughters behavior while the burly king is more accommodating. But eventually the day comes when Princess Merida is faced with a choice - three suitors from three tribes that will strengthen their kingdom - but, of course, she is against the entire idea and instead …

Forget The Critics; This Is One Of Pixar's Best

JLFM - wrote on 06/22/2012

Last year, Pixar gave us Cars 2. Critics and audience members alike were appalled at the product. It was no where near the masterpieces that Pixar had brought us previously. But while it wasn't perfect, I still enjoyed Cars 2. But I definitely didn't want Pixar to keep making movies like Cars 2. I wanted more masterpieces. So Brave comes along. The film that everyone is hoping will save the day and remind us all why we love Pixar.

Unfortunately, many critics aren't all that impressed with Brave, and while MOST of the critics liked it, the reception has been a little disappointing, especially when you consider how well the rest of the Pixar films have done. Brave is being considered one of the worst Pixar films.

But I think this is bizarre. I'm not quite sure why this is being met …
