"R.I.P.D." by Yojimbo

A police detective is betrayed and murdered by his corrupt partner and finds himself an officer of the RIPD, the police force of the afterlife charged with bringing errant evil souls to justice. The presence of Jeff Bridges can normally be relied upon to be a fair indication as to whether a film is going to be worth the time, but on this occasion I think he ought to have words with his agent. RIPD is as flimsy as flimsy can be with a concept that completely fails to capture the imagination. The utterly workmanlike script contains few thrills and fewer laughs and Bridges and Reynolds manage to share very little chemistry in their cliched bickering buddy partnership. Even the special effects are not up to scratch and the plot is paper thin with nothing in the way of engaging characters, …

An action SF comedy (without comedy afterall)

Roy Pulsipher: I'm what they used to call a lawman. Marshall Roysephus Pulsipher.
Nick: Roysephus?
Roy Pulsipher: It was considered a very sexy name at the time.
Nick: Sounds like an STD
The only thing I can say about this movie is that this is a less successful copy of "MIB" with a touch of "Ghostbusters" (also a port that is opened up) and as theatrical as "Ghost". The widow has a feeling that the old Chinese could be the reincarnation of Nick, who wants to contact her .... yep ... sigh.
There are a few comical action moments with the non-living who, by the way, all look like Mr. Hyde out of the Van Helsing movie. Besides that there are not much funny moments anymore. The quote stated in the beginning was the only moment that made me smile. It feels all the time …

R.I.P.D. review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 09/20/2013
Typical eye candy and gun blazing mixed with sci-fi elements touched with so-called comedy. This reviewer was reminded of horrendous mix of The Matrix, Ghostbusters and M.I.B. So many things wrong with the picture. It laced sufficient character development (especially for the veteran R.I.P.D. officer Roy Pulsipher), relationship of Nick and Julia felt flaky and cheesy, Ryan Reynolds lack of conviction (never liked his acting and choice of films), flimsy special effects and terrible screenplay. It was painful to view such a talented artist in Jeff Bridges to be connected with this outrageously ludicrous picture. So many questions with no answers: not sure how suddenly the "job" of Roy and Nick focused on vengeance, how suddenly Bobby Hayes (Bacon of all people) masterminds the …

R.I.P.D doesn't deserve a sequel it just doesn't

i watched this movie instead of the conjuring and i am pissed.
R.I.P.D is a terrible movie i couldn't even stand it. there is no way I'm ever gonna watch this movie again.
So this movie is a comedy right, well the comedy is just white trash humor. It was never funny at all, i even face-palmed and some of it.
Oh god this movie is a nightmare for people who nitpick. It has so many plot-holes, the story is unbearable, lazy and a ripoff of MIB with ghost. Don't even get me started with the cgi it was just bad just bad.
the only parts that i enjoyed is jeff bridge which is like the main character in the movie since ryan Reynolds is silent for a lot of the movie. Even the jeff bridges parts get annoying after awhile
This movie isn't the worst movie to come out this year so far but …
