The Silver Linings Playbook review

Daniel Corleone - wrote on 01/15/2013

"Life is hard enough...Couples fight its normal...True love is about letting her go and seeing if she returns...Humanity is just nasty...Try to stay positive. He cannot be a quitter." Quotable lines are endless, which is more than enough reason to enjoy the funny and moving film. Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) who has a condition moves to his parents while his dad Pat Sr. (Robert De Niro) tries to reconnect with him. Tiffany Maxwell (Jennifer Lawrence) befriends Pat and spend time together.

Earnest performances from Robert De Niro, who finally gets back to finally being in a very good movie and showing his range. Cooper was solid but Lawrence just spellbinding. Jennifer Lawrence is have a nice acting career after this gets its proper rewards (or lets say awards). Nice …

Review: Silver Linings Playbook

David O. Russell's The Silver Linings Playbook is a rich, funny, and heartwarming movie experience, and one of the better (much better, actually) romantic comedies to come out in recent years. Obviously the reason for saying "much better" is because 80% of the modern romantic comedies to come out are dreadful inflictions that star Jennifer Aniston. Silver Linings rightfully fits in with all of those terrific films. This movie has it all. You'll certainly laugh, you'll most definitely smile, and you may even cry, even if you're an asshole.

Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro star in the film, and they all shine. Jennifer Lawrence is a …

Silver Linings Playbook (2012) Pat (Bradley Cooper) has lost just about everything – his wife, his job and his house. After spending eight months at a court mandated mental institution, he returns to his childhood home to get his life back on track and lives in the attic, a small cramped space above his parents’ (Robert DeNiro and Jacki Weaver) room. At a dinner party thrown by his best friend Ronnie (John Ortiz) and his wife Victoria (Julia Stiles), he meets Victoria’s sister, Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a widow. At the dinner table the two discover they have something in common – they are both struggling with mental problems. And so begins an unlikely friendship. This is a funny, moving film that deals with a problem that many people and many characters in this film struggle …

Silver Linings is Golden

I'm not usually one to go for romantic comedy/drama films, but I heard so many good things about The Silver Linings Playbook from various film festivals, and the fact that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence have both impressed me in the past, that I was willing to give this a shot. Boy, was that a good decision.

A film about broken people trying to better their lives: Cooper plays Pat Solitano, who, at the start of the film, is picked up by his mother after eight months in a mental health facility. After catching his wife in the shower with a fellow teacher, he nearly beat the man to death. He found out he had undiagnosed bipolar disorder. Why is he broken? Despite all the signs against it - his only true goal in life is to get back together with his wife and he has blinders when it …
