Corruption has been done so many times on screen that Rampart feels more like a footnote than a worthy addition to the genre. Woody Harrelson does his part at bringing a conflicted cop to the screen - but this is no Bad Lieutenant - though if you're itching for a dirty cop drama, it will do the trick. It's one of those movies, though, that just doesn't leave much of an impression on you, try as it might.

Harrelson does give a worthy tortured performance, but the movie itself lacks any focus or point to the story. Sometimes entertaining and at other times frustrating.
