My biggest issue with Robocop is that is really should have been rated R - by taking away the brutality, it loses all its power. Also, while Joel Kinnaman is a good actor - he's pretty much wasted in the lead role and the supporting cast isn't much better. A solid action film - but lacking depth and teeth - about as worthless a remake as Total Recall.

RoboCop (2014) probably is as unnecessary as its detractors claim it to be but unlike a lot of similar films which are eager to dwell on the anticipated carnage, it's admirable for being so interested in the ideas it brings up with the premise. However, Joel Kinnaman struggles as the hero. There's times where he's very wooden and others when he's quite likeable. The supporting cast surrounding Kinnaman overwhelms him with the likes of Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Michael K. Lewis, and even Abbie Cornish gives a better performance than Kinnaman. The effects and stylistic choices are fine enough but I was surprised by the lack of action which you'd think they'd cram as much as possible into the 105 minute running time.

An extremely lame reboot of the classic original. This version features much better special effects, but also has toned down PG-13 violence, a boring lead actor in the title role and, most shockingly of all, an almost complete lack of action! A boring dud.

In the year 2028 OmniCorp has made billions in robot drone technology and is now looking to increase profits by deploying this technology on the home front. They see the perfect opportunity when officer Alex Murphy - husband and good cop - is critically injured in the line of duty. Merging man and machine, the first RoboCop is introduced - but in trying to control the robot, they forget about the man inside - a man still seeking justice. This movie is not as bad as people say. this movie has good CGI and the suit didn't really bug me that much like other people.
