Extraordinarily unoriginal and lame, and the scene where the Washington Monument collapses is some of the most fake-looking special effects that Ive seen.

Feels very much like a late 80's/early 90's action movie, complete with a capable badass and a familiar 'Die Hard'-esq plot. The action is competent. There are some individual exciting moments. It moves along super fast. The excessive use of really bad CG did hurt the experience. There may be little investment in the events, but the movie is entertaining in the way in which it doesn't overreach it's lower standards. Empty calorie cinema at it's best.

The plot of this movie should have been the plot to die hard 5. This movie was like a 80's action movie, I mean the action is popcorn fun.

While the plot is not that original, "Olympus Has Fallen" is well directed, violent and intense, and features an outstanding "bad ass" performance from Gerard Butler, which rivals his excellent work in "300."

Is there supposed to be a message here? If Antoine Fuqua had a point to make, I'm not sure what it was, as the movie is essentially Gerard Butler shooting and stabbing everyone he can (after about 100 people or so have been taken out by a non-stop barrage of bullets, bombs and other assorted carnage). Action fans might be happy - but it's pretty dark for my tastes in action. I much prefer the more "popcorn" action of White House Down myself.

The plot wasn't all that great, and neither was all the jingoism involved in it.

I saw this as a "preview" movie this week. It officially comes out next Friday. Very intense, lots of violence. The North Koreans take the president and other officials hostage inside the White House. It was hard for me to buy - lots of protocol breaches that would not happen in real life. Some good acting by Morgan Freeman & Gerard Butler, but the actor who plays the president (Aaron Eckhart) was horrible! Bad acting and bad casting since he never seemed "presidential". Overall, too much shooting and punching and kicking for me!
