Depp and Pacino Make for a Good Film

This was a good movie all around. It is a very well done, undercover/gangster movie. Pacino managed to not chew the scenery too much, making his character enjoyable. Johnny Depp did great at portraying the emotions of what he was dealing with. The story and writing was great. I liked and hated the end. I wish they would have changed it up a bit. What I did like was that, even with all the evidence given to them, Sonny and the guys still believed Donnie was not a rat. I picked up the Leftie knew it was true, but refused to say anything. Him taking all of his valuables off as he left his house was heartbreaking. It showed how little money he had, and that he gave his whole life to the family, and left his wife with next to nothing. I do wish there was a little bit of a court scene to see …

"Donnie Brasco" by Yojimbo

Undercover FBI agent Johnny Depp is taken under the wing of low level mobster Al Pacino and soon finds that the lines between his work and his personal life start to blur. Donnie Brasco is the true story of Joseph Pistone whose testimony resulted in hundreds of arrests within the New York Mafia in the late 1970s. Pacino plays the virtual opposite of Tony Montana in this warts and all depiction of life in the mob; he is a rather pathetic figure, little more than a flunky to self serving bosses within a world that's riddled with duplicity, treachery and hypocrisy. His partnership with Depp works really well as you start to feel the same sympathy for this shambling, dishevelled figure trying to get ahead without the intelligence or faculties to do so and the film is one of the first …

Donnie Brasco review

The story of a real life FBI agent Joseph D. Pistone as Donne Brasco (Johnny Depp) and his new friend Benjamin "Lefty" Ruggiero (Al Pacino). Pistone tries to penetrate a mafia under the aid of Lefty, who seem him as a protégé. Because of Pistone’s involvement with the criminal acts, he unintentionally evolves into becoming one of the mobs. Sensational acting and on-screen chemistry by the leads coupled with stunning cinematography and perfect tone during the near conclusion. The script was appealing, had drama and humor. In most films we loathe the antagonist, because of Pacino’s performance whose ranks in the “family” never improved and personal problems, you feel empathy for the deprived mobster. Depp displays his ability as a loving father transforming to a vehement …

Don't Forget About It!!

Donnie Brasco is an Academy Award–nominated 1997 film starring Al Pacino and Johnny Depp. It is loosely based on the real-life events of Joseph D. Pistone, a FBI agent who successfully infiltrated the Bonanno crime family under the alias "Donnie Brasco". Depp met with Pistone several times while preparing for his role. Donnie Brasco is an extraordinary film in many ways. The performances are note-perfect. Especially the acting of my favorite actor.. Al Pacino. But there's so much more to it than that. The late 70s period details are impeccably captured; the dialogue is extraordinarily raw and realistic; the moral dilemma facing Depp is achingly, agonisingly conveyed. It's such a powerful picture, completely involving, that by the end you find yourself wrapped up in Pistone's …
