Director Danny Devito assembles a cast of unlikable characters to go through the motions of a dark and often disturbing comedy. Black comedy can work if it gives the audience something to grasp onto with security, but, ultimately, this film is an unfunny and empty mess.

If you look under "generic comedy" in the dictionary - you should see a picture of Ben Stiller, because that seems to be the trap he has fell into. Sure, Duplex has some cute moments, but overall its just another by-the-book comedy.
