Potential Classic? Let's not go crazy people...
Indyfreak - wrote on 01/31/2015
The Lego Movie is probably the biggest surprise of 2014. I was like so many other people who thought this was going to be a dull dumb commercialized cash-in on a beloved cultural icon. As it turns out, we were all half-right. It most certainly IS a commercialized cash-in but this in no shape or form prevents it from being a bright, zippy, and sometimes clever film.
The animation is simply breathtaking in how much it closely resembles actual Lego pieces. Now that we've established that it's not a bad film by any means, the next question is whether it's the next Toy Story as some are touting? I myself would not go that far despite still having two 4' x 4' boxes chock full of my childhood Lego collection tucked away in my closet.
In truth, I'd find it pretentious had it not spent so …

I miss Legos.

The Lego Movie is simply a landmark in modern day animation, and an instant classic. Obvious care and artistry brim with vibrant energy and heart. And despite being titled 'The Lego Movie' never once does it come across as one big commercial wanting you to run out and buy as much Lego products. On the contrary, it truly inspires one to be creative, even if not everyone understands it, your imagination never gets too old or young. It must also be said that this is one of the funniest films, animated or not, of the entire year so far. The comedy is ingeniously hilarious, not just because the visuals/dialogue are already strong, but in how they are timed throughout. I never thought I'd be raving so much about a movie about legos, but it's simply wonderful, touching, ambitious, …

The Lego Movie: Review And Easter Egg
Itchy_Rabbit - wrote on 02/27/2014
Well, it seems like everyone has already seen The Lego Movie. So this review is probably just one of many.
I saw the movie over the weekend, and I thought it was pretty good. It had a nice message, and it had a lot if humor that the parents can enjoy, too.
One thing I liked: Everything was made from Legos. Now I know what you're thinking, “Well, duh.” But, would expect fire, water, and even smoke to be made completely out of Legos? I didn't, so I was pleasantly surprised. Also, the Legos did not “look” animated. They appeared to be actual Legos. They did not move in ways impossible for Legos, they just went to their Lego capabilities.
Another thing I noticed. At the beginning, Lord Business and Vitruvius fight over something called the “Kragle”. After Lord …

Review: The Lego Movie

After parents around the world have all been inflicted upon with The Nut Job, they finally have something worthwhile to blow their money on for both themselves and the kids. That's right, The Lego Movie is wonderful, and a great feast not only for the eyes, but for the brain. I left this animated film with a big smile on my face, totally satisfied and complaint-free.
To start, the voice acting is absolutely top-notch. Chris Pratt plays Emmet, a lonely and socially isolated but often off-the-walls Lego piece. Pratt brings incredible energy and fun to his performance, and when needed in the film's surprisingly heavier moments, he resonates us emotionally with his warmth and likability. The same can be said with Elizabeth Banks' Wyldstyle. She's fun and lovable and fantastic in the …

The Lego Movie review

"You’re the most talented, most interesting, most special person in the universe." An unexpected surprise perfect or the whole family. It was the only time my 2 year old kid never got bored viewing a whole film in its entirety. The picture had fantastic character development, enticing voice actin, utilized almost every scene to make it engaging, moral essence was present, effective screenwriting and the soundtrack was just pumping and sufficient depending on the mood of the scene. This reminded me of a quality South Park movie and Team America: World Police without the profanities. Themes of father-son relationship, removing your originality ("Lord Business makes everything generic and takes away everything that’s special or different." from Vitruvius), belief in yourself …

"Everything is Awesome" About 'The Lego Movie'!

'The Lego Movie' is the first big surprise of 2014! This animated gem reminds all of us why we played with Legos in the first place. The story encompasses all the imagination and creativity that is associated with the brand. The whole movie is just beyond clever! From the fantastic visuals, to the characters, to the humor, to the unexpected heart, this flick masterfully showcases all aspects. The multitude of rapid-fire jokes are consistently hilarious and subversive. And, to top it off, there's a terrifically sweet message about individuality. Beginning to end, this is non-stop upbeat FUN! Definitely worth seeing multiple times. Great entertainment for all ages. When describing the film, I would borrow it's most memorable quote: "Everything is awesome!".
