If the Matrix had Christian Bale in it and you get this movie. So humans are living in one giant city under the strictest government control. Monks keep the peace and maintain the current status quo, but what happens when they open their eyes to the big picture, freedom. Christian Bale plays this silent but I will kick your ass if you mess with me kind of character and he plays it well. This movie has a forgettable story but the action is well shot and at times pretty stunning.

The dystopian, big brother environment has been executed better in other films, but Equilibrium certainly has a visual pallette to it. The film's sweeping action scenes and martial arts-inspired gunplay are particularly memorable. With a less expositionary screenplay, the film could have been great.

I like it almost as much as the first Matrix. Very entertaining and satisfying sci-fi, action-thriller. Shame that it got overlooked.

This movie is so good. The police are called "Grammaton Clerics" which is a sweet name for police. The final fight is my favorite fight scene of all time (hand to hand combat with pistols). Whatever style of kung-fu / kirate or whatever this movie uses is the best. I believe it was used in some other movies, maybe Ultraviolet.

Action: 2 / 3, Comedy: 0 / 2, Good vs Evil: 1 / 1, Romance/Love: 0.5 / 1, Special Effects: 0.5 / 1, Plot: 1 / 1, Music: 0 / 1. Total is 5 / 10 or 50%, which is 1 out of 4 stars for my rating system. Bale is good as usual and some outstanding fight sequences are presented though bit players like Diggs really drag and struggle with the concept.

I went into this having heard little about it, and came out blown away. As a lover of "Dystopia"-themed Sci-Fi(a la 1984, Brave New World etc), this delivered for me and then some. And complete with some Matrix-esque action on the side(not a cheap "rip" of it by any means, however), it should have enough for an array of film lovers.

An interesting mix of Fahrenheit 451, 1984 and The Matrix. Although the story is familiar (dystopian future where emotion is forbidden) I guarantee this is the only one to feature Gun Kata. If that intrigues you, by all means watch.

One of the greatest Sci-fi films with a lot of "Matrix" like action scenes. The idea behind the movie is solid and the acting is good as well. If you like the Matrix or V for Vendetta check this film out right away!

A wonderful action movie that combines "1984" and The Matrix to make a great movie. Bale does not really perform well, but then again emotion is supposed to be turned off. The action scenes are incredible and by the end you feel for them.
