Based on the true story of Louis Zamperini who started out as a olympic runner but then ended up in the army during the world war . unluckily his plane crashed and he ends up stranded on the ocean with 2 other crew members only then to be rescued by the japanese who then put him in a prisoner of war camp where one officer seems to go out of his way to break him.
This is a very good film i enjoyed it all. and it was something you could really get into and lost in. i was so lost in it i didn't see the shark coming whch made me jump out of my seat and you dont get that even with a horror movie lol
Ive read some reviews on this which were a little luke warm. all i will say is you would have to be born souless to not appreciate that this is a good movie. case it is !

A well made film, with some broken parts in it

If I Can Take It, I Can Make It. True words of wisdom right they.

Unbroken is a true story about a Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini played by (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII-only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.

Unbroken is directed by the Oscar wining actress Angelina Jolie, and this isn't the first she directed a film, yeah she directed one Documentary I think and she also did a film called "In the Land of Blood and Honey", and what I heard these two films she did (Even the Documentary) was slammed and hated by everyone. I haven't really seen those two films (And I never will) but now she directs Unbroken and I can safely say that this movie …

Some Cracks Show, But Unbroken Holds Strong

Next time I tell you about how bad a day I've had or how terrible my life is - just remind me of Unbroken and life Louis Zamperini had to live during WWII - shot down, surviving 45 days out at sea, surviving not one but two Japanese POW camps - anything life has thrown at me through this point pales in comparison.

Zamperini (played by Jack O'Connell) grew up as a petty thief but thanks to the love and support of his brother, Pete, he turned his back on that life and turned to running - specifically cross-country, which in turn led him to the 1936 Summer Olympics in Germany. These flashbacks are interspersed with his role as a bomb operator - missions which hold the very real danger of death. When their own plane is damaged, they are given the relatively benign task of a rescue …

'Unbroken' is Broken

Unknown - wrote on 12/27/2014

'Unbroken' is the same 'true story' survival tale told time and time again. There's nothing new offered at all. The lack of suspense and emotional involvement I felt made the familiar structured story a bit tedious when trudging through the slowly drawn-out second half. This is where the film becomes a long repetition of the main character being broken down physically by his terrible situations. There's no inspirational feat reached when your protagonist shows little struggle. He's essentially a punching bag for the elements and an almost borderline goofy 'evil' general. No human connection is established. I'm sad to say that I just never cared for one minute. The closing pictures and words of the real-life people held more interesting dramatic avenues for their coping with the …
