Despite the 80's style cinematography and music, the heartbreaking story of two dueling brothers feels modern in its realism and melancholy. Exceptionally strong performances by the Bridges brothers.

Really unlikable characters, although Pfeifer does have a few showstopping songs.

Even though I like Jeff Bridges, the only thing that stood out about this film was Michelle Pfeiffer's performance. While I am surprised she was nominated for an Academy Award for this film, it is probably well-deserved. The show-stopping numbers were great.

I won't say this is the best drama ever, but the Bridges paired with Michelle Pfeiffer makes for a good time. They have the right chemistry to make it work, even if it lacks the punch to be a truly standout film. Worth a watch.
