"What We Do In The Shadows" by Yojimbo
Yojimbo - wrote on 06/14/2019
Visit with a house share inhabited by four vampires living in Wellington, New Zealand.
What We Do In The Shadows is a comic mockumentary following the trials and tribulations of a group of vampire friends dealing with the day to day of living in contemporary New Zealand. Anyone who has seen Flight Of The Conchords will know what to expect, featuring as it does co-directors Jermaine Clements and Taika Waititi - who went on to direct Thor: Ragnarok - and Rhys Darby, and it has the same blend of sight gags, post modernism and socially awkward observational comedy. Thankfully it's not by any means a scattershot spoof - it's rather more like a vampiric version of This Is Spinal Tap crossed with The Young Ones - and although it's rarely laugh out loud funny, it's consistently …

Sitcom

What We Do In The Shadows ist ein kluges und schön gemachtes B-Movie! Wir erleben die sozialen Probleme des …

Clever Drawn Out Sketch Movie

Basically, it's the 'Spinal Tap' method done with vampires. This is a very clever little film. The whole approach is like a nonchalant reality show version of vampires. We see four of them share a space and go about living day-to-day. Much thought went into the gags. They incorporate lots of vampire lore seamlessly into the casual setting without having to waste time on explanations. Each of the vamps are distinctly different in look and personality. Werewolves and zombies even show up. Even though this is a short and less filling endeavor, it still dragged on a bit for me. The feeling of this whole piece being one elongated sketch grew more and more as the film progressed. Luckily, it ended about the time I'd had enough. It's the main flaw keeping this smart comedy from …

Spinal Tap meets Real World if they were Vampires
Stoney McStonerson - wrote on 01/08/2015
You've probably heard very little noise made about this Vampire Spoof/Parody/Mockumentary in the "Spinal Tap" mold. Starring one half of the "Flight of the Concords" who with 3 other Vampires all room together in an old Mansion ala the reality show "The Real World". It also has a roaming pack of Werewolves led by the always amusing and underrated Rhys Darby who was the Bands Manager from "Flight of the Concords". The entire Cast as well as the constantly funny script make this giddy gem the best Vampire Spoof that I've ever seen. Although there has yet to be a Grand list of this type. Love at first Bite, Dead and Loving it and Buffy the Vampire Slayer come to mind but pale in comparison. Shadows starts out with an abundance of laughs even before the opening credits start to roll …
