Dumb, Gross Mess

'Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse' is another underwhelming undead comedy. Think of this as a gross-out teen movie filled with zombie violence, in which both sides of the combo counteract instead of compliment. We zip through what is essentially a fast paced montage of a movie. The story is underdeveloped and the flimsy plot only exists to string together the juvenile set-pieces. Almost none of the jokes are actually funny. The big gags fall the hardest. They present terrible setups to situations involving breasts, penises, vaginas, and rectums. It all registered groans instead of laughs from me. The gore is more appealing than the humor. Lots of practical make-up, blood, and fleshy bits are utilized effectively.
