This monotonous and tedious biopic from the once fiercely provocative Oliver Stone gives only an ankle deep look at the story behind the NSA's most wanted man.

Sure the pace is a bit slow, the story fully one-sided and Oliver Stone feels like he's coasting a big but Snowden loses none of the impact. A lot of credit goes to Joseph Gordon-Levitt for another spot-on performance, and an excellent supporting cast including Shailene Woodley, Rhys Ifans, Timothy Olyphant and, surprisingly, even Nicholas Cage. And, in the case of the last film I saw Gordon-Levitt, there is also an accompany documentary that is must-see viewing, Citizenfour from Laura Poitras (which overlaps some with this film). Watch both, you'll be more informed and angrier than ever.

Nicely restrained in tone, to the point of sometimes being a bit boring. A little hagiographic for my tastes, but makes its points clearly and compellingly.
