This film surely is strange and gloomy but it was visually very beautiful and artistic. I didn't really understand the story so well because it jumped from future to past and the other way round. Anyway, I love Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. It has many themes which might interest to some people like for example this film had scenes of animal testing and stories about God and all sorts of ethical things. There also seemed to be some sort of Maya or Aztec culture in one part. Basically this is a story of strong love and the pain of letting go. This man wants to find the cure for his wife's illness and doesn't want to give up no matter what. So he spends most of the time in the laboratory than with his dying wife.

Agree with Alex. Either you love it or hate it. But not because you wont "get it" (ala "I'm dumb")... simply because is very likely that you wont "connect" to it. Wich is perfectly understandable since is a vey very personal movie with lots of thoughts and philosophies that you might not share, finding the whole thing ultimately pointless. I loved the idea of this movie. Is one of the best movies of the past 20 years.

After wanting to see this movie for a while, I couldn't get into this and ended up shutting it off. It might of been because I was a little tired and needed to get more involved in the movie. It just seemed to "arty" for me. After reading Alex's comment I might need to give this one another chance.

I am not exactly sure how much I will like this movie, it was very good, with great music, good plot, and an ending that left me sitting min my chair with awe. But...not for everyone.
