Much too long, but the film has a surprising amount of heart and some good actors; the combination makes Fred Claus an entertaining holiday movie.

Absolutely great cast (how did they pull it together?). But absolutely terrible movie! How in the world were they able to get away with this? Anyway, better luck next time I guess. If you're looking to take a kid to see a good Christmas movie, practically anything else would be better (Prancer, Christmas Story, etc.).

It looked like it was going to be good... until it fell into drippy sentimentality at the last quarter. Vince Vaughn is his usual sarcastic self and Kevin Spacey is good as an analytical Scrooge. The sibling support group is pretty funny.

It's rare that I watch a movie and feel embarrassed for the actors, but it happened here. I'm guessing everyone signed on before they read a script, because there's not really a coherent script here. Pretty dull and predictable, there are better holiday movies out there to see.

Fred Claus stars Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti, where Vaughn plays an older brother who resents his young brother, St. Nick himself. Fun Christmas flick full of holiday cheer. It's a family Christmas movie, they don't always have to be perfect, as long as we get the point and it keeps us smilin', it's probably worth a look. FINAL SCORE:::: 68% ::::

Vince Vaughn playing the older brother of Santa Claus seems like an excellent idea, especially when paired opposite Paul Giamatti as his brother, with Kathy Bates, Kevin Spacey, and Rachel Weisz, but it definitely fails here. Vaughn is the highlight of everything, delivering the funniest lines and setting up the funniest scenes, but the fim just gets awkward. Spacey as a Scrooge-like efficiency expert is far too evil, and Weisz is far too great of an actress to play the horribly developed character of Vaughn's girlfriend. The film takes its self far too seriously, with most scenes only being able to please a child's sense of humor.

Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamatti do a great job as brothers in this touching holiday movie. Vaughn makes this movie funny and gives it the laughs you are looking for. Besides very beautiful North Pole scenery, there is also a very funny, short scene where Fred goes to a 'siblings group'. Check out this fun holiday movie for 2007.
