"The Witch" doesn't resort to cheap jump scares to keep you on eggshells. After a slow but steady start, it makes for nervous and refreshing horror.

Aesthetically beautiful and powerfully acted and very odd and unusual for a major Hollywood movie. More about isolation and interrogating your own soul, than typical good vs. evil stuff.
