A great idea for a war film that ends up bogged down with cliched villains and a protagonist with murky motivations. It actually feels like the trailer for the movie only they forgot to make the movie itself. Ridley Scott usually shoots his movies better than this. The picture is flat and darkly lit. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'd rather watch Black Hawk Down again.

All the usual boot camp cliches are in effect here, given a feminist spin as Demi Moore attempts to become the first female Navy Seal. Ridley Scott displays his usual visual panache (although the final action scenes are almost wrecked by some uncharacteristically unsophisticated and jittery camerawork) and it has a grittiness missing from many of these kind of militaristic flagwavers. The fact that it's so predictable and has the inevitably cornball ending means it's hardly Scott's finest hour, but it's a lot better than anything else I've seen Demi Moore in.

An adequate film that succeeds in showing Moore's tough side.

A solid cast and performance by Demi Moore. Unfortunately, the screenplay was insufficient in terms of making this engaging. The premise was okay, the execution was subpar. If only G.I. Jane was written better. One of the rare misses from a talented Director.

This movie, ridiculously titled, is also a ridiculously over-done woman-power embarrassment. Although Moore does have a kickin' body (and the hunky Navy Seals are very nice to look at), all the politically correct point-proving that goes on is silly. I don't know what Ridley Scott was thinking when he made this one.

Lots of grrrl power with Demi looking to battle Ripley and Sarah Connor as toughest woman ever. Too bad this doesn't have the style or substance to back it up.

I doubt that this is a true story, but I feel it could be. I would like to think that it is like this, not that I am against woman in the SEALS but I am against wusses in the SEALS. The acting was good and the directing was done well enough to feel for Demi's character.
