"Rules Don't Apply" glows with the look and feel of golden age Hollywood, but it squanders its lush production design and an exceptional cast on its weak and sporadically plotted script.

...you ain't wrong about that. I mean, a young Han Solo jizzed in his pants and Lily Collins doesn't have the personality of a salted cracker, as we thought. Warren Beatty took time off to come back for this? That's sad.

One of the most bizarre pet projects to come out of Hollywood in years, it's a shame to see Warren Beatty return in such a strangely structured yet ultimately pointless movie. He's actually quite good in the role of Howard Hughes and Lily Collins isn't bad herself. But the plot is less comprehensible than Batman versus Superman with all these characters and side-stories which go nowhere. If you watch the trailer and think it's a romantic comedy, it's not. The best movie I can compare it to is "Hail Caesar!" and if you didn't like that then you're gonna loathe Rules Don't Apply.
