While far too many characters in this film are wholly unlikable (for a variety of reasons), it's really David Oyelowo who sells it as the hapless, put-upon middleman who finds himself in increasingly desperate situations. The too-nice-for-this-world character attempts to do the right thing at every turn, only to see his good will turned against him time and time again. A decent supporting cast (Amanda Seyfried, Sharlto Copley and Thandie Newton) helps things along - making for a serviceable dark comedy/action experience.

A dark comedy about a hapless businessman trying to fake his own kidnapping only to wind up at the center of a larger conspiracy. The cast is hit or miss. Joel Edgerton is funny as the evil boss but Charlize Theron mugs too hard at the camera, playing up her sex appeal. David Oyelowo does a fantastic job as the naive and resentful protagonist who decides to play dirty for once. But the movie makes the mistake of many a comedy these days and runs a half hour longer than necessary.
