I enjoyed virtually the entire movie. The only thing I didn't like about the movie was how it treated blackface.

Not a bad movie. Not a good movie. It is dated for sure, but that is expected for 1936. I could almost see what movies were to become from this movie (more tracking shots and transitions). Not deserving of best picture but what was in '36?
