Despite an uneven script, Far From Home is a solid sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tom Holland is likable as ever as Peter Parker. His relationship with MJ (Zendaya) felt more natural this time. The scene-stealer is Jake Gyllenhaal as the crafty illusionist Mysterio. The first half honestly was hard to get through. It’s not necessarily bad but standard awkward comedy mixed with big cgi monsters. Once the central plot twist happens, which comics geeks can figure out quick, the movie wakes up and gains a sense of much needed urgency. The acting is more real and the action scenes become more creative. The best part is the post-credit scene. It’s one of the best in the MCU yet.

Coming off "Endgame," this "Spider-Man" sequel has some big shoes to fill. "Far From Home" is worthy of Marvel fans' time even though it doesn't bring the themes it carries over from the last "Avengers" film into full focus.
