This whole movie feels like a Twitter shit post, which turned out to be true after its release but in my opinion, not the enjoyable kind.

As a horror/thriller, the film is merely middling, but it's totally worth the watch for Octavia Spencer, who looks like she's having the best time (and the party scenes, and music selection, are especially entertaining). Just remember, Karma's a bitch... and so is Ma.

Octavia Spencer shines in this suspenseful thriller as Sue Ellen, a lonely if disturbed middle aged woman who befriends a group of teenagers. But the more they learn about Sue Ellen, the more sinister and unhinged she becomes.

Hinged entirely on casting Octavia Spencer against type, the insipidly executed "Ma" isn't anywhere near as scary or as much fun as its premise would suggest.
