Paint-by-numbers and yet it's not as painful to sit through as I feared. Jared Leto is actually not bad casting as the 'living vampire'. But the mediocre script often leaves him and the cast to fend for themselves. Matt Smith yucks it up as a sinister threat while Al Madrigal walks in from a better movie as a cop skeptical of everything. The movie does have a body count and it does not overstay its welcome. Perhaps I'm getting worn out by the more prestigious comic-book fare lately. But seeing a superhero movie that is basically an upgraded B-movie from the '80s or '90s is kind of refreshing.

While Morbius may have been crowned the king of meme movies for 2022, no amount of "Morbin' Time" machinations can save this mess of a film. The Living Vampire is as bland as plain oatmeal with questionable CGI and not even Matt Smith's dance moves can improve things. When Michael Keaton shows up all but promising a Sinister Six future - it feels more like a threat than a promise. This vampire anti-hero just plain sucks.

Marvel superheroes have officially hit creative rock bottom. "Morbius" is generic in every possible way and devoid of the slightest bit of personality found in even the worst of throw away blockbusters.
