Spike Lee works with a little too much material here, but there's no denying the movie's hefty father and son story and Lee's filmmaking prowess.

This one let me down. Just not as good as I was expecting. Denzel is great, and even Ray Allen can act, but Rosario Dawson just annoys me. And, the story itself, I found myself just not caring what school he chose. This could have been so much better.

I remember enjoying a few scenes. One of my favorite NBA players struts his acting ability in this decent Spike Lee film. Denzel never disappoints, if only more roles were given to Milla Jovovich and Rosario Dawson. This would have been good if the screenplay had better character development. If you love basketball, like to see how an NBA player can do drama (no Blue Chips type of drama) then this is the film to view.

Despite a convincing performance by Ray Allen, this sports film suffers from lack of focus. One minute, it's a fascinating portrayal of the pressures of a basketball player who may go pro. The father-son stuff, however, pops up too inconsistently and derails the plot from greatness.
