"Where's the GOLD?!?!?!?" (Repeat 10x)

Heist is an interesting example of a movie that is in retrospect a surprisingly unoriginal one in terms of storytelling. But it's so enthusiastically carried out as far as the acting and screenplay go that in the moment, it convinces the audience they're watching something new. The characters are a collage of cliches: the veteran thief (Hackman), the femme fatale (Rebecca Pidgeon), the black sidekick (Delroy Lindo), the quirky redshirt (Ricky Jay), the impulsive upstart (Sam Rockwell), and the big bad (Danny DeVito). The plot itself is just another "one last job" kind of storyline but again the script is often clever and the witty dialogue revels in its hardboiled pessimism. Brillant cast, great story, purely entertaining.

'Heist' is a heist movie that is more original then most others. It is about a couple of thieves who have to do one last job. The thieves are Joe Moore (Gene Hackman) and his wife Fran (Rebecca Pidgeon), Bobby Blane (Delroy Lindo) and Pinky (Ricky Jay). They are forced to do the job by Mickey Bergman (Danny De Vito), and for this last job he has sent his nephew Jimmy Silk (Sam Rockwell) with them. Joe was recorded by a surveillance camera last time so he must be extra careful.
The movie starts with the first job where Joe was recorded, which is a lot of fun to watch. Then we have the last job, which is pretty clever as well, and of course it can't end there. After a lot of plot twists we think the movie is finally over but there is one last twist. It doesn't matter really because most …
