For a movie that's very "dry", it sure is beautifully shot almost like a Terrence Malick movie, in terms of the floating camera movement.

The Dig is a well acted and thoughtful historical film detailing the discovery and excavation of a priceless Anglo-Saxon burial ship. But the archaeologists involved are on a time-crunch as World War Two is just on the horizon and afterward, resources will be diverted to the war effort. From what I understand, the movie is based off a historical novel and it does take some artistic license with the facts. But it remains entertaining. Ralph Fiennes is quite good and Carey Mulligan does fine.
