This reviewer had high hopes for this popular western classic. Viewing several before this may have affected the rating since there were so much better in terms of pace, action and character development. Will Kane (Gary Cooper) gets married to Quaker Amy Fowler (Grace Kelly). The news of criminal Frank Miller (Ian MacDonald) comes to town. Cooper was sincere in the role and the build up for the antagonist and suspense were good. Wardrobe and score were wonderful. Unfortunately, that leads to the films weak-point since Frank wasn't ruthless when shown on screen and Grace Kelly under utilized. The conclusion felt rushed based and shoot-out lacks impact. Even the people in the town were uncooperative. Screenplay could have been tweaked to improve the film. Overall, High Noon maybe …

A poor and overated western.

High Noon fails to create the dread of this force that is coming. When it comes you are not afraid and it is all a bit easy. It is mainly about how everyone is deserting him, and some have very good reasons, and the church scene makes no sense and does not even resolve. No character is really fleshed out and every thing is really just jumbled together. The acting is actually a bit overrated all Gary Cooper does is look forewarned to whole time. I did like the opening theme a bit but that was all.
