This superhero sequel to the earlier megahit is just as weird and cartoony as the first movie. There's bizarre creatures, colorful worlds, and a boatload of CGI spectacle. But the movie does feel rushed. I will admit that I truly loved the first movie. But this one feels kind of half-finished. Some wide shots look good but then there are visual effects that seem unpolished. I did like the buddy comedy set up between Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson,. An octopus sidekick provides further humor. And even though the movie looks visually uneven, I like the design and look of this movie. Like a weird mix of Bioshock and Spongebob.

"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" sends DC's botched franchise off with a drab sequel rife with almost everything the series already had plenty of: Pointless action, overblown effects, uninspired humor. All inhabiting a mediocre story with no longterm payoff.

A mediocre coda to the mess that was the DCEU. Jason Momoa is still trying to balance comedy with the action but the effort here just feels more forced than the first film - which was over-the-top, but more entertaining. Hey, if you've stuck with it for this long, you may as well see it out until the end.
