A cute and enjoyable family adventure. However, this movie feels like those Kung Fu Panda and Big Hero 6 spin-off animated TV shows.

Imagine "How to Train Your Dragon" without enough dragons. That's basically "The Sea Beast," a mechanically told adventure with a shortage of appearances by its title creatures, on top of it's only passable animation and cliche message.

Exuberant animated adventure with swashbuckling monster battles and a heartwarming story. The voice work is very good. The level of detail for the seafaring world and character animation is impressive. This should have been theatrical instead of a Netflix release.
