I can see why this blew up on social media as it's exactly the type of movie a bunch of teen girls watch at a sleepover and scream at every little thing. But the film has no context, no plot just grainy video and the occasional jump scare. Your mind might be able to play its own tricks in the darkness, but I was hoping for something much more substantial.

This film is a con. Excepting a few scenes the whole movie is an illustrated guide to analogue horror. There is minimal context and no motivation for the film's bag of shabby, shameless tricks. It's a long, boring movie with some terrible film-making. The film's highlights, like the scene with the mother telling her confused and frightened child to look under the bed and whatever that moment was with #2035 model Fisher Price chatter telephone that is the best character, suggest Ball can direct a film if he sets his mind to it, so why did he take the easy way out and make an interminable creepypasta?
