John Brown clings to life after he's mangled in an explosion perpetrated by the iniquitous Dr. Claw. But robotics expert Brenda Bradford comes to his rescue and replaces his limbs with a cornucopia of gadgets. Transformed into crime-fighting machine, the newly-created Inspector Gadget vows to bring down Dr. Claw. Matthew Broderick I have seen you in other movies and you was good in it but in this movie you was awful.

Almost painful. Kids I was babysitting pleaded for it to get turned off. I watched it alone later and understood their wisdom.

Live action adaptation of the cartoon is pretty cartoony. Some good use of CG effects wasted on a sub-par film.

Although the cartoon series was silly in its own right, this film adaptation loses a lot of the fun of the series and instead comes across as stupid.

Inspector Gadget is one of the few movies that I just could not finish watching. It was just too stupid, making my head hurt along the way. And it's only a 71 minute film! What has happened to Matthew Broderick? He was Ferris Bueller, now he's a lame rip-off of a lame cartoon series? At least he's been in a couple of things lately to show off his acting skills (Election and You Can Count on Me). After I saw Inspector Gadget, though, I was kind of hoping that someone would put him out of his misery.
