Another great Speilberg movie

One of my favourite movies as a child, and a movie I continue to enjoy. Though not particularly scary, it is f***ing horrifying seeing what that flippin' shark can DO.
The movie is about the sheriff of Amitty Island, Sheriff Brody (Roy Scheider), who is afriad of going in the water. F***, anyone would be after seeing this movie. One night a drunk girl goes skinny dipping ;) and is eaten by a Great White Shark. One of the most famous opening scenes of all time. The next day, Brody is investigating her death, and while at the beach, the shark strikes again, this time killing a small boy named Alex Baily. At least that's what I think his name is.... Anyway, Brody calls in Marine Biologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) to help him track the shark down and kill it. The Mayor also …

One of Spielberg's Best

This is one of the finest examples of suspense and horror. From the very first scene to the very last, there’s a certain menace that’s present so the audiences never really let their guards down. The idea of sharks eating people whenever they go in the water is such a simple idea but Steven Spielberg’s execution made it unimaginably terrifying. When the film is not scaring the audiences, it’s making them laugh by using the characters’ dialogue, but those hints of sunshine don’t last long because the danger is never dispelled until the very end. Spielberg’s technique of not actually showing the shark until the first hour is brilliant because he keeps us guessing on how big the fish actually is.
