Benefits largely thanks to its clever writing and terrific performances. "Juno" is an essential teen comedy from the 2000s.

The story is about a young girl is pregnant and doesn't want the baby. She decides to give it up for an adoption, but meets the future parents before the baby is even born. She struggles with the adoption as do the possible future parents. This movie has one of the best writing of 2007.

Juno is one of those movies you can't help but like- it's very funny and quirky and even a little sad at times. It also teaches us, yet again, that life is not black and white- there are so many gray areas people are forced to sift through and first impressions are not always correct. I have a feeling it'll be a classic someday.

Two of the best people you can get of the screen for this type of movie (Page/Cera). I didn't find their chemistry to be phenomenal, but they are two very good actors and have been put into a movie that is well written and thought out. The film is good at not being preachy or depressing. It does a good job of not down-playing the serious and heart-ache of being a pregnant teenager while not over-exaggerating the plight. It shows the happiness and sadness of the situation.

Although the script occasionally tries to be too witty and smart for its own good, which distracts from the story, the film does do a great job of humanly and humorously handling the issue of teen pregnancy. Ellen Page is a sarcastic star and Michael Cera's type-casting actually works in his role as a clueless father-to-be.

Juno has cute, indie, Napoleon Dynamite-esque humor. I enjoyed it as a quirky film with good acting and a decent laugh as well, however, I felt like the main character, Juno, seemed a bit cold and detached when it came to just up and giving up the baby. Next to that, it reminded me too much of being like Napoleon Dynamite, so that's why my rating isn't super high.

There are some fine moments here, but they're all cancelled out by that "clever" and "witty" screenplay. "What other idiosyncracies can we give this plucky heroine?" The dialogue just trivializes the whole story.

Its hard to resist this movie. Its incredibly entertaining and the dialogue is very sharp. Ellen Page gives a hilarious and spunky (I can't believe I said that) performance as the title character and the supporting cast is equally good. The screenplay is very original and very smart. A modern indy classic.
