An underrated heist film that works best as a gritty drama about resolving inner conflict, "The Lookout" becomes more and more intriguing as it thickens, and is made very engrossing by performances from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Matthew Goode.

It was OK, and some of the characters were interesting and I would have liked to learn more about them. Joseph Gordon Levitt is quickly becoming the king of the indie filx, but this wasn't his best. I too saw simalarities with Memento and Fargo.

When I saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it had some potential. Joseph Gordon-Levitt seemed like he could fill in a character, Carla Gugino may not have the best acting chops, but she has performed well in quite a few movies. Jeff Daniels Generally gets a single thumbs up in my book. Unfortunately, none of these actors could save this movie from being rather boring and predictable. While I liked Gordon-Levitt's role in the film, it never really shined and the "handicap" was more or less a ploy to get viewers to ignore the obvious, boring, and simplistic plot of the film. It wasn't the absolute worst film I've ever seen, but it definitely would not land on the "good" side of thing either.
