Alan Rudolph's ode to the Jazz Age is a beautifully filmed mood piece with a collection of good performances. Keith Carradine is the cynical expat; Linda Fiorentino is the alluring old flame; John Lone is her ruthless husband; and Wallace Shawn provides comic relief. There are neat little twists and turns that keep it entertaining. The real attraction is Rudolph's attention to period detail and the cinematography.
