The premise is one-note, but "Mrs. Doubtfire" is warmly funny.

Daniel Hillard: "Did you ever wish you could sometimes freeze frame a moment in your day, look at it and say 'this is not my life". Everybody said that the story to this movie is a bit creepy, you know the story's about a man who can't see his kids that much so dressed up as a old women to get to them. Everybody said the story sounds a bit wrong but I don't find it creepy at all. Robin Williams was fantastic in this movie and the other cast did a good job as well. overall Mrs. Doubtfite is a very good family movie with lots of laughs and lots of heart. "Touch me again and I'll drown you, you bastard".

The usual tiresomely cliched, schmaltz-ridden pap you'd expect from Robin Williams.

A silly film is made entertaining by Robin Williams' total commitment to the comedy of his role. Every scene that Williams is in (which is to say, most of them) is elevated by the actor's energy and comic timing. It's not a very believable film, but it is a very funny one.

Let me just tell you right now: Robin Williams is one of the funniest and most energetic actors of his time. The guy has so much heart and so much energy into everyone of his roles and this is no exception. Not only was he good, but the rest of the cast was absolutely fantastic as well! Each of the three child actors (one of which, the son, was on Boy Meets World, one of my favorite sitcoms ever), Sally Field, and Pierce Brosnan (pre-Bond) are all excellent. Overall, Mrs. Doubtfire is one of the funniest comedies of the 1990s and a childhood favorite of mine.
