Gretchen Mol's completely enveloping performance is wasted in a film that manipulates its story to send a preachy message. The manipulation itself is pretty boring, at that.

Trivial drama that covers everything too quickly, as if very little happened during this time period. Gretchen Mol is perfectly-cast, but has little more to do than strip and smile. Perhaps it just had the wrong director to give it life. Final Grade: C

Works so well thanks to a superb performance from Gretchen Mol who is incredibly sexy, yet completely innocent (even naive) as pin-up queen Bettie Page. The end is a bit treacly, but you can't change a biography.

It came off rather preachy: "oh it's ok to be a stripper and love God too!" but it was moderately good. Nothing that deserved awards like so many people claimed though.
