Good Revolutionary War Movie...

The film begins with Benjamin Martin, played by Mel Gibson, foreseeing the coming of the Revolutionary War. Martin was a hero for the Americans in the French and Indian War and has a personal knowledge of what war is like. While he supports the ideals of the rebels, Martin does not support the war because he fears for his family. One of Martin's sons is then killed by a British Colonel (Jason Isaacs), and this inspires him to join the war effort. Martin and his eldest son form a militia and carry out a series of guerrilla-style attacks on the British. Martin is motivated by revenge on the Colonel and the film culminates in a battle between Martin and the Colonel. The central idea of the film is to show how war affects people on an individual level rather than on a broader scale, and this …

A good, accurate, movie that's a little long

Widower "Benjamin Martin" (Mel Gibson), a veteran of the French/Indian War, wants only one thing -- to raise his family on the family plantation. He is totally against the brewing conflict with the British, and is at odds with his eldest son "Gabriel" (Heath Ledger), who is for going to war with Britain. The rift between the two over the war spreads more when "Gabriel" joins the militia when the state representatives, one of which is his father, votes to enter the war. However, "Benjamin" was one of the 12 to vote against entering the war.

Then, after a battle just yards away from the Martin Plantation, "Benjamin," his other children and the slaves on the plantation are taking care of injured from both sides of that battle when a group of Redcoats come up to the plantation to take …
