At the most popular opera house in Paris, a masked man haunts the aspiring star. But when another man starts to pay attention to her, her "guardian angel" swears to have her all to herself. Now she must choose between her childhood sweetheart and her mentor. This movie was alright. the sets in the film was good but the movie was not for me.

The music was great, but everything else felt pushed back in favor of the visuals.

Not really big in musicals but because of its popularity, I had to watch this with a friend. Has one of the immortal soundtracks, set pieces and costumes were good. Only qualms I had was the pace of the story, its believability and performances. If only the productions didn't feel rushed in creating the film, it could have been way better. It wasn't dreary, not one of the classics but if your in a mood for a musical, this might fit your quench.

A bold visual retelling of the Phantom of the Opera that doesn't quite capture either the darker moments of the silent film or the epic heights of the ALW musical. Still, who doesn't love that soundtrack?

So lavish it's distracting. It seems every scene has at least half an army of statues. Patrick Wilson's performance is incredibly wooden.

The songs are okay they are a bit repetitive but they do sound okay. The look is pretty good actually with lots of color and all that. The singing though is not great and that is what hurts it the most. The phantom himself just doesn't not sound like someone who should be teaching opera. The story does not really matter much for musicals but it is good enough.
