As much a socio-political allegory as it is a sci-fi adventure, "Planet of the Apes" is one of those smart 60's B-movies that's still relevant today.

A classic. Brilliant, even if it is uneventful at times. Its themes are timeless and its message universal.

One of the smartest and most entertaining sci-fi films I've ever seen. I love this movie!

Moronic premise, stupid special effects. Too bad they didn't make one of Earth peopled by Howard the Duck's feathery terror warriors. Planet of the Fowls would be as special.

Some of the action and dialogue in this classic sci-fi film are a bit clumsy, but the film does an excellent job of creating a fascinating role reversal scenario between humans and apes. The scenes in which Heston is imprisoned are among the film's best. The film's famous ending works well, but, unfortunately, set up a bunch of mediocre sequels.

One of the greatest endings in sci-fi, if not films in general. The costumes looks pretty dated today, but it's still not that bad. It will keep you engrossed throughout, even if it looks somewhat cheesy.

The concept of this movie is very original, and the sets and costumes at the time where state of the art. The script is good and the acting is on par. Its only downfall is the age of the movie. The sets are now dated and the actor?s masks are drivel. Still, for any true sci fi fan, see this one over the remake (white it is somewhat entertaining too).

A raw look at society that only this movie pulls off while keeping you entertained from beginning to end. The remake is good too.
