Entertainingly laughable 70s disaster flick full of hysterical women and gruff manly men trying to escape a capsized ship. Hackman and Borgnine butt heads alpha male style saving the stereotypical damsels in distress as their shed their clothes at strategic intervals. Good fun, and a damn sight more entertaining than bloody Titanic.

This is a movie I have loved since I was a kid. Skip the first ten or fifteen minutes of the movie though and go straight to the New Years Eve party. Great story of survival, great acting and I think good effects for a film made in 1972. One of my all time favorite guilty pleasures. Avoid remake at all costs.

A very intense and enjoyable adventure thriller. Unlike the remake; this delivers some extraordinary performances by Gene Hackman, Shelley Winters and Ernest Borgnine.

I liked this version much better than the remake. Although it comes off as low-budget, it's still a good adventure.

Pretty good. Shelley Winters and Gene Hackman especially deliver. I'd recommend it and avoid the remake at all costs.

A disaster-of-the-week film from the 70s, complete with cheesy acting! Okay, its better than a lot of the competition from the same time period, but it's still over-the-top. Still better than the remake.

The cult following surrounding this film is odd to me. It is a pretty good movie (terrible acting but thats ok because it is played so well by each character) and has a real sense of urgency. Hackman's performance is unforgettable. Good.
