I thought this movie was excellent. Beware though, the ending is a little twisted.

Second attempt watching it. First rating: 2/10, Second Rating: 3.5/10 It was like a TV movie and was very effective. I was crying by the end, but still it's hard to watch. Ellen Burstyn is an amazing actress. The artist who made-up Jared Leto's arm was impressive.

Controversial because of its nature, it is how far the superb cast and director Darren Aronofsky dare to go that makes this one of the most alluring and electrifying movies I have ever seen. Jared Leto, Ellen Burstyn, Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans are magnificent in this movie and all perhaps have their most rewarding performances of their career under the direction of Aronofsky. Be prepared to be wowed by the direction and material as four people try to survive their addictions to drugs. When I first saw this movie I was very impressed and couldn't keep my eyes off the screen...it is very different but in this viewer's opinion it is very rewarding and that is why it I rank it as the 30th greatest movie ever....

Requiem For a Dream is a really raw drama, about four people trying to cope with a drug addiction. I think that the old lady, unknowing to the fact she is addicted to speed, is the most controversial, with her hallucinations being creepy and in your face. A great movie which everyone needs to watch; the truth about the effects of drugs.

A spell binding film that sinks it's hooks in from the opening credits and pulls you into a story and life style that opens your eyes. This film is beautifully shot, well acted and incredibly well written. The cult trademark of this film is the editing and splicing of the film in various scenes. The story follows the simply dealings of four people each looking for something different that leads them to a nieve approach to one aspect of the drug trade. After the initial encounter they get sucked into a world that slowly and methodically destroys their lives until the pique in the end that results in them laying in the fetal position on their beds.

Requiem For a Dream is a superb film all around. The story revolves around four central characters, all dealing with drug addiction in their own way. The style of filming was unique and perfect for this movie. Marlon Wayans played his role exceptionatley well, considering the majority of his films were comedies.

Probably one of the most difficult to watch films I've ever seen. Way too sad, too depressive and too shocking. All that, simply because we all know is real. Technically, is beyond awesome. I really like Aronofsky, so, this one gets an applause from me. I really, really love Jen Connelly.

You can try to put a positive spin on addiction, even make it cool - then you can watch Requiem for a Dream and come back to reality. This should also be shown in every school. It's depressing, yes, but that's the whole point.

Music, plot, cinematography...all perfect. Every teenager/college student should see this movie in a class, as to what not to do with their life! One of the best ever made.
